OVERVIEW

Many of us enjoy the occasional trip to the races with friends, a celebratory night at a casino or even a weekly trip to the local bingo club and there’s nothing wrong with that – as long as it’s done responsibly. Research has shown that those of us on lower incomes, such as the tenants of social housing developments, are more likely to suffer from gambling harm than the general population. Better Change are true advocates for prevention being better than cure which is why we’re committed to delivering gambling awareness training to these tenants to ensure they are well informed, educated and prepared before they begin gambling.

WHAT WE DO

We have partnered with prestigious organisations such as Centrepoint and Ready4Home to deliver gambling awareness training to their tenants who are aged 18 or over. These organisations provide both accommodation as well as crucial life skills to their tenants to enable them to be able to live independently and gambling awareness forms a key part of their care programme.

By sponsoring preventative educational programmes for those who are more susceptible to gambling harm, such as the homeless, asylum seekers and recently released offenders, we can continue to sustain our industry and protect those who might be vulnerable. As with all our content, our training material has been written by qualified Clinical Psychologists specialising in gambling harm. Each session is designed to be a fun, interactive workshop rather than passive lectures to ensure maximum engagement from all participants.
